An Island Luxury Resort
All 20 hectares of Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa are mountainous terrain, with its highest point at 114 meters above sea-level. To seasoned travelers, images of the picturesque island of Santorini in Greece will come into mind upon reaching the resort. Common to both are its rolling terrains and immaculate white buildings perched atop its cliffs: white structures that reflect the sun and contrast with the azure blue seas below.
Bellarocca (beautiful rock) is located on a small island-mountain off the southwestern coast of Marinduque and features 70 exclusive and stunningly appointed 40-80 sq.m. Beautiful Rock: An Overview
Striving to reach a balance between man and nature, Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa is an island luxury resort. Its relentless beauty will surely catch the eye of the beholder – daylight over the horizon promises a near reflection of cerulean blue skies and water. Approaching the island, the surrounding foliage provides the stucco-white structures with a sense of serenity and calmness. Add to that a touch of wild colors—influenced by man and nature—courtesy of flowers that frame both the interior and exterior of this magnificent resort, this breathtaking backdrop goes hand in hand with world-class accommodations and amenities to rival the world’s best.
Geography and Location
Bellarocca is situated off an island in the southwest coast of the Marinduque province. Located between the southeastern portion of Luzon and Mindoro islands, Marinduque is flanked from four sides: North, South, Northeast and Southwest by the Tayabas Bay, Sibuyan Sea, Mompoy Bay and Tayabas Strait, respectively. Popular for the Moriones Festival, the province has a land area of 959.2 sq. km., including four major islets and seven minor ones. Characterized by seaside cliffs, valleys, hills and sparsely dotted plains across this heart-shaped region, therein lies even more impressively, the unexplored caves, hot springs, waterfalls and underwater flora and fauna.
Culture
Putong, Marinduque’s unique custom of welcoming and honoring guests, coupled with the quaint and laid-back ambiance is what greets you upon your arrival. The ceremony starts with a group of men and women serenading the honoree. This group called the mamumutong sing and dance in front of the guests, showering them with flowers and coins to wish them long life and as a sign of affection. The charming hospitality of the locals as well as the unhurried atmosphere guarantees the start of a truly memorable vacation.
Of course, no culture is without music and arts as shown by the Marinduquenos who are identified with the Moriones festival. This celebration is held during the Easter and involves a re-enactment of Christ’s passion and death. Moriones is derived from the word Morion, a type of open helmet used during the 16th and early 17th centuries, a part of the medieval roman armor. Thus, in addition, this festival is characterized by colorful roman costumes, painted masks and helmets and brightly colored tunics.
