Jerwin Ancajas Vs Fernando Daniel Martinez
Fernando Daniel Martinez, an Argentinian Olympian, fired almost a thousand punches en way to winning the IBF world super flyweight title by unanimous decision over Jerwin Ancajas on Sunday at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, USA.
Martinez started off strong, firing hard left straights and right hooks in the first round. Ancajas seemed calm, as if he was attempting to find his stride while throwing jabs at his opponent.
Martinez accelerated the pace in the second round, landing strong uppercuts to the head and body. Ancajas moved to the middle of the field and stayed in the pocket, allowing the Argentine to reduce the gap and deliver powerful shots.
In the first seconds of round three, both competitors exchanged heavy leather. Martinez began to throw his characteristic overhand right, but Ancajas frequently threw his left, which caught Martinez off guard.
In round three, an unintentional contact of heads resulted in a laceration on the side of Martinez’s left eye. For a little moment, the challenger slows down.
